Who we are:
The University of Arizona (Tucson) ATA Club is an officially
recognized sports club (since 1991) associated with Young's ATA Black Belt Academy.
What we have to offer:
- In addition to six
hours of instruction and physical training per week, the club also
organizes trips to local tournaments in Phoenix, a fall semester trip to Regional Taekwondo Camp, and a spring semester trip to the ATA Spring National Tournament in Las Vegas.
- Many aspects of martial
arts are incorporated in our training. They include: Tai Chi, Protech
Weapons, Self Defense, Board Breaking, Ground Fighting, Extreme Martial Arts (XMA) and Sparring.
- Responsibility and
self-discipline are also emphasized along with self control and
safety.
Who can learn Taekwondo?
Anyone, at any level,
age, or fitness level, can benefit from Taekwondo. The ATA has active
students ranging in age from 4 years old to 80 years old, and there
is a special abilities division as well. The ATA also has the largest
number of active female black belts of any martial arts organization
in the world.
How can I get involved?
Interested people at
any experience level are always welcome and encouraged to check out
the classes for no charge! Just wear a T-shirt and a pair of
sweats and see what ATA Taekwondo is all about. For information
in addition to what is offered on this site, contact Instructor or the president.
