No doubt, paintball
is alive and well at the UofA, but it had not always been
that way! When Pat and Colin Hood moved to Tucson in the fall
of 2005, they found that their favorite pastime wasn’t officially
recognized by the university. Fortunately for the two, paintball
already had a strong presence in the city of Tucson, thereby
allowing them to network with likeminded paintball veterans.
For
example: Michael Coalson, an experienced paintball player,
also shared the need to build a presence for the sport at
the UofA. After playing PSP for several years, he had already
established a solid network with other players. Naturally,
he has provided a significant contribution to the team through
his experience and recruiting.
The same also applies to the members listed above.
As
the momentum grew, all that was needed was a formal application
for official recognition at the University. And so, in August
2006 (after completing the endless wave of paperwork) paintball
had finally gained a presence at the UofA! The club officially
has twenty-five members, bringing around ten players to each
competition.

The
team members come from California, to Nebraska, and all the
way to Virginia. The team primarily consists of freshmen and
sophomores. As the years progress and the team builds a larger
following, the Wildcat Paintball Team is destined to become
one of the most experienced collegiate teams in the country.
In
September 2006, the Wildcat Paintball Team officially joined
the National Collegiate Paintball Association (NCPA). This recognition
peaked the interest of the University of Arizona’s student newspaper,
and has also grabbed the attention of the university itself.
As community funding and support grows for our organization,
so too will our presence in the paintball community. While we
are not able to directly acknowledge any specific people or
companies, we wish to extend our sincerest gratitude for your
support!
Our
team has the drive to excel both in the field and in the classroom.
We are dedicated to practicing at every opportunity and putting
forth 110% on the field. This willpower, along with the individual
skills, will make the Wildcats a force to reckon with in the
future PSP events! |
