Current Events
For updates on current events, join the HED listserv. If you would like to be placed on this listserv, send an email to Sara Kersels, HED Administrative Assistant, at skersels@email.arizona.edu.

In addition, HESO keeps faculty and students aware of events through the club bulletin board and flyers posted throughout the office.

Orientation
New students are introduced to faculty, staff, returning students, and the University at this event at the start of the academic year (August).

Back-to-School BBQ
This event is the kickoff for the school year, usually held the Saturday before classes begin at the home of one of the Center's faculty.

Brown Bags
"Brown bag" luncheons are held throughout the year, covering a range of salient issues for higher education students. Guest speakers, focused discussions, and the sharing of material from professional conferences are common topics. Recent luncheons include discussions with Dr. Michael Jackson, VP of Student Affairs at the University of Southern California and with visiting scholar, Dr. Ben Tuchi concerning a critical evaluation of higher education costs.

Holiday Party
Near the end of the fall semester, the new board is announced and faculty and students wish each other well on finals and in the upcoming semester.

Spring Fling
The University's annual student carnival is a chance for us to have fun and raise money for the club. This event usually happens in late March or early April. See the Spring Fling web site for more info.

Graduate Recognition Luncheon
This event is held near the end of each semester and pays tribute to students completing degree requirements.

Alumni

The Higher Education Student Organization would like to extend an open invitation to all Higher Education alumni to participate in club events.

Alumni Guest Speakers
HESO would like to schedule alumni guest speakers for Brown Bags, special events, and professional development workshops. We want to know what it is like out there in the "real world" and what you have learned from your experiences. Please contact Brendan at cantwell@email.arizona.edu if you will be in Tucson and would like to spend some time with us!

Conferences
Please keep an eye out for current students at professional conferences. We welcome you to introduce yourself!
