Arizona Beats Virginia in National Opener
| After winning the Southwest Conference Championship, the
Wildcats were looking to take their momentum with them to the National
Championship tournament at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. The #4
Wildcats faced the #13 University of Virginia Cavaliers, who were the
winners Atlantic Division. The Wildcats won the contest decisively 26-4 in
their opening game.
The Wildcats overpowered the Cavaliers throughout the game. The Wildcats had four players record hat tricks. Qualls had 5 , Acedo had 4 , Delorenzo had 3 , Shultz had 3 , Dunnam had 2 , Kane had 2 , Snell had 2, and McErlean and Schneider both had 1. For the Cavaliers, Deasey was their leading scorer with 3 goals. The Wildcats face the winner of #5 Oregon State University versus #12 Colgate University. |
