Men's Polo Beats the Beavers, Faces National Foe Cal Poly Next
| After defeating the University of Virginia handily in the
tournament opener, the #4Wildcats faced the #5Oregon State Beavers in their
second-round match-up. The Beavers beat Colgate University in their opener
12-7.
The Beavers came out strong against the Wildcats holding the Wildcats to only two goals in the first period. The Wildcats normally come out strong in the first period, but the Beavers defense stifled the Wildcat's early attack. However, in the second period the Wildcats began to wear down the Beavers as they went up 6-2 at the end of the second. In the second half, both teams recorded three goals and the final was 9-5. The scoring went as follows for the Wildcats: Carpenter 1; Snell 2; Delorenzo 1; Dunnam 1; Qualls 2; Teacher 1; McErlean 1. The Wildcats will face National foe Cal Poly in the semi-final match up. Poly defeated Grand Valley State in the previous game. Poly defeated Arizona last year at the 2002 National Tournament 6-2, so the Wildcats are looking for some revenge. |
