Minutes for Meeting of 09-18-96

Hi Ramblers!
Our meeting today was great! Thanks to all the new persons who dropped by! We hope you'll join us on our upcoming hikes!
This Saturday, the 21st of September, Loretta will be leading a backpack to Wilderness of Rocks. We will be meeting at Park Student Center (at 4th and Park) in the parking lot at 10am. This hike is rated a B+. Some of this hike may take place in the dark, so if you have a problem with this, please call Loretta at 620-1875. Or, bring a flashlight!!! Don't forget a bathing suit!! We should return by Sunday evening. Please let Loretta know if you are planning to go!
Additionally, for those unable to make Loretta's Saturday hike, a Sunday hike will meet at 9AM behind the PSC. Jaimee (695-3133) will lead this hike to rendezvous with Loretta at the Lemmon Pools. This hike is rated a B.
Pam is leading a hike to Porto Lobos on October 4th through the 6th. Departure time is tentative at 1PM Friday and return is planned for Sunday afternnon. This promises to be a lot of fun! Space is limited, however! Please contact Pam if interested!
Be sure to note!!! Next Wednesday and the following Wednesday, the Ramblers will meet in room 281 of the Student Union. This is to alleviate the cramped conditions of our usual room!
If you take pictures on your hikes, be sure to bring them in!! We are anxious to start putting pictures of the hikes up on our web site!!

I hear that there is a sale at Bob's Bargain Barn on hiking and camping equipment. Has anyone heard about it??
There was a debate today on the viability, or perhaps the necessity, of a Ramblers' phone list. On one side, it was mentioned that there have been problems with unsolicited phone calls. Though not specific, it was claimed that some persons discontinued their membership because of this intrusion. Additionally, with the popularity of E-mail, it is no longer necessary to disperse basic information via phone. On the other side, many members seemed to feel that a phone list is beneficial for its immediacy. That is, members could contact each other immediately and not have to worry when the other party will next sit down at a computer to check their E-mail. Apparently, phone lists have been helpful in the past, if used only rarely. Input is greatly appreciated! Give us your opinions!
Well, I think that's it!!
Hope you all have a good week and good hikes!!
