Minutes for Meeting of 10-02-96
(From Jacob):
Hi Ramblers! We had a great meeting today! Thanks to Loretta for her slide-show!
There were a lot of stories to tell about this weekend's hikes. Something about a hiker's unfortunate encounter with a Cholla during the night of the lunar eclipse and a young boy's idea of target practice. Then there was the dead cow, but we'll leave that alone. :-)
Other than that there were a lot of successful hikes. Many were able to take advantage of the eclipse to do some star-gazing either on campus, with the astronomy club, or on some nearby mountains.
Various hikes are planned for this upcoming weekend.
Pam's Porto Lobos trip will meet at the Park Student Center Friday the 4th. An overload trip is still scheduled for the eleventh by Josh. I'm not sure if Josh's trip is full or not. I will find out more about it as soon as possible and post it to the listserve.
Jack (325-1350) is leading a "C-" hike, destination unknown, Sunday the 13th at 8 a.m.
Chawn (325-9178) has scheduled a shuttle-hike to Sutherland Trail Saturday the 12th at 7 a.m. 6000 vertical feet over 15 miles. "A"
Erich (621-3994) has proposed a hike Saturday the 12th at 10am. He will be going to the Catalinas. Please contact him if interested.
Tim Collins (621-8607) has access to an observatory on Mount Bigelow. He offers any interested hikers to contact him.
Veterans' Day Weekend is coming up soon! Many of the proposed hikes will be discussed at the next meeting!
Loretta will begin signups for her Thanksgiving backpack to the Grand Canyon within a week or two.
For Spring Break, a trip to Copper Canyon in Mexico and a trip to Utah have been proposed. I think that's most of everything! Have fun this weekend! Take pictures so we can put them on the web page!
