Minutes for Meeting of 10-09-96

Hi everyone!
Hope there wasn't any confusion finding the room yesterday. The Ramblers' meeting was listed twice in the Wildcat for two different rooms and neither was correct. This upcoming week we will be meeting in room 280.
Pam had a great Porto Lobos trip! She described "emerald waters" and vast expanses of unpopulated beaches. There were sea lions and dolphins and fire-breathing Ramblers! One person emphasized her reluctance to leave and all agreed that they want to return soon.
Erich led a hike to Mt Lemmon with about 12 people and a couple dogs. Unfortunately there were many gnats and the swimming pools were rather murky.
Happy Birthday to Mike!
Erich gave a great slide show of various back-packs he had been on recently. The pictures were really great! I hope we can get a few on our web site soon!

Sunday there is an "A" day-hike to Sutherland trail. Distance is fifteen miles/6000 feet. Chawn (325-9178) is leading this hike and asks that all who are interested please call him! He is also looking for an additional car. They will meet at 7 a.m. at the PSC.
Don't forget that Porto Lobos trip #2 is this weekend. Josh (795-6892) will lead this trip. Details were given after the meeting.
Kristen is leading a Ramblers' Skating Event after next week's meeting! Everyone is welcome! Cost will not exceed $10 and it would be wise to bring pants and good socks. This will meet at the PSC around 7:30 p.m., however Kristen will post more on this in the near future. (293-1691)
Rated "C- to A+" depending on previous experience!
Loretta read a letter from a volunteer coordinator of Project Volunteer. This philanthropic organization helps to provide food for the poor at Thanksgiving and food and presents at Christmas. Please call Loretta (620-1875) if interested.
Veterans' Day Weekend is still up in the air! Anyone with any ideas?
Within the next few weeks, more information on the Grand Canyon Thanksgivinng Backpack will be available.
See everyone at the next meeting and have fun on your hikes!!
