Minutes for Meeting of 10-16-96
Hello Ramblers!!!
How are the mid-terms going? I finished my last one today, but will the homework never end?! We had a good meeting again, and an even better "social" at the ICEOPLEX afterward. All of us who went agree: If you didn't go, you missed out on a great time! Even I was able catch on! (I'd never skated before.) Maybe we'll do it again? Or maybe something else? Someone had an idea for a soccer or volleyball game. (coming soon to a weekend near you - BD)

OK, that's out of the way!
The Porto Lobos that wasn't: About 6 people went on the over-flow trip for Porto Lobos this past weekend. Their destination changed, however, and instead became Puerto Peñasco. The first day was very humid and they couldn't stay closer than 50 yards from the beach. Saturday was much nicer, though, and there was a great sunset. They returned on Sunday.
The only other hike this past weekend went from Catalina State Park to the summit of Mount Lemmon. 7 people were able to make this trip.
Erich (621-3994) has proposed a hike for this upcoming weekend (Saturday 10a.m. PSC). If you are interested, you should contact him. Currently there is no destination.
No other hikes are planned. If you would like to propose a hike (How about Sunday), send a message to the listserve.
Anyone with ideas for Veterans' Day Weekend?
Loretta passed out a sheet for the Grand Canyon Thanksgiving Backpack. This hike will leave the 27th of November sometime in the afternoon. On Thursday they will hike into the Canyon and have a Thanksgiving dinner. Any interested should bring some good Thanksgiving foods! Return is scheduled for Sunday. Be prepared for cold weather and/or snow! Also bring a flashlight for spelunking & caving. This hike is rated a "B+ to A-" and occupancy is limited! More info will probably come over the listserve or be presented in the next couple of meetings.
The adopt-a-family program is a very promising organization! If you are interested in helping out or finding out more about this, contact Loretta at 620-1875.
Josh (7956892) has a Halloween Party Potluck planned!! Meet at Josh's house (1645 E. Hampton - two streets south of Grant and two streets west of Campbell) Saturday November 2nd at 7pm in your costume. And don't forget to bring a musical instrument for a jam session!
Erich gave a great slide show of his travels through South America. They were fabulous!!! He had slides from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and other countries. The pictures of the rain forests and animals were especially interesting.
That's about it! Hope we get some hikes organized. Anyone interested in a Desert Hike? Don't forget to take some pictures and save a few copies for the Ramblers' Club! We'd love to put them on the Web Page! Any questions or comments are welcome. Please e-mail me, Loretta or Kristen, see us at the meeting, post a message on the listserve, however you please.
Have a great week!!!!!
