Minutes for Meeting of 10-30-96
Hi Ramblers!
Past hikes:
Erich led a hike Monday to the Wilderness of Rocks. There was snow on the upside of the Canyon and he came across bear tracks! It only snowed lightly during his hike and mostly during the evening while he returned.
On Sunday Loretta led a hike to the Maiden Pools. This hike was an easy one and ther were about 6 people who went. They thought it was too cold to go as high as the snow level and stayed around the pools.
The Bean Fest was this weekend! Apparently only about 20 people showed up.
Upcoming hikes:
Wit (721-8412) has proposed a loop hike in the Santa Ritas. They will leave Sunday at 9 a.m. The change in elevation should only be about 2000 feet and the trail is about 8 miles. This hike is rated a "B".
Chawn (325-9178) has proposed a downhill skiing trip or mountaineering trip (depending on the amount of snow). This requires you have appropriate equipment.
Todd (326-3455) has proposed a hike to the Tortillas this Saturday. They will meet at 7am. This hike is not rated.
We have finally agreed on a trip for Veteran's Day weekend! Dave (881-5982) has proposed a trip to the Gran Desierto in Mexico. It ought to be warmer by about five degrees than Tucson. Supposedly the dunes can be over 100 feet high! (Now that would be fun to roll down!) The beach is close, too. The drive will take about 6 hours. More on this will be available during the next meeting.
The Halloween Party: Josh (795-6892) has a Halloween Potluck planned!!!! Meet at Josh's house on the corner of Warren and Hampton (1645 E. Hampton - two streets south of Grant and two streets west of Campbell) Saturday Nov.2nd at 7pm in your costume. And don't forget to bring something to the jam session!
Next week:
We may have a slide show courtesy of Erich! Loretta has plans to show her slides from Australia sometime in early December. With luck, we'll have another ICEOPLEX trip soon! Everyone has already heard how much fun this was last time, so we should get everyone who didn't go to come this time! Also, we'll have some movie nights soon. Don't Forget!: Today (thursday) is the last day for the Flandrau center's Halloween show! I understand that Kristen is responsible for the upcoming Pink Floyd show on the 5th of November! Everyone have a great week! See you Wednesday in room 281!!!!
