Minutes for Meeting of 11-12-97
Howdy Hikers! (This is flu season, if you don't want the flu, don't directly handle these minutes!) ;-)
Meeting called to order at 5pm, all officers present. Sorry about the minutes last week. I was called to work at the last minute and BJ had email server problems - he sent it, but it didn't go anywhere. Good old UA email for you!
LAST WEEK'S ACTIVITIES:
-
Friday - Paul - Tucson Mts. Paul did some bushwacking to the ridge of the Tucson Mts. He said he hiked for 5-6 miles and that it wasn't too hard. He returned via the King's Canyon Trail.
-
Friday evening Bonfire - . Ron said it was a great success. He had 13 others at the bonfire, 4 of whom had to go back home that evening due to work the next morning. They played games and had a great view of the city. Three adventurous Ramblers decided to go up to Mt. Kimball they next morning carrying all of their gear. All-in-all a great hiking story. This event may be turned into an annual Rambler event, although it would probably be moved toward the beginning of the semester.
-
Saturday - Wolfgang - Madero Canyon/Mt. Wrightston. Wolfgang said it was very scenic and you could see for many miles that day. They could see pretty deep into Mexico.
-
Sunday - Ross & Paul - Wassom Peak. They made a 7 mile round trip hike up the King's Canyon Trail to the Sweet Water Trail and back by way of the Hugh Norris Trail. They said they had fun with that hike.
-
Tuesday - Jon - Kent Springs/Bog Springs Loop. Jon said it was a pretty neat hike. There were some clear water pools along the trail. He said the Kent Springs Trailhead is about a mile before the Madero Canyon Trailhead.
-
Tuesday - Loretta/Josh - Gila Wilderness/Silver City. Loretta said there's a long, curvy road to get to the Cave Dweller area where they did about a mile hike. They didn't have too much fun because it was raining though.
NEW BUSINESS:
-
Thanksgiving Adopt-a-family:
We collected $1-2 per person at the meeting and ended up with almost $35.00. This money will go towards providing a Thanksgiving meal for a family in need.
-
T-Shirt Design: The deadline has been extended by 1 week. Final designs are due at the next meeting!
-
We don't have a room for the meeting on 26 Nov. as people are usually gone for the holiday. As it stands now, Loretta will be on her way to Bryce Canyon, Wolfgang will be hiking Mt. Kilomanjaro in Africa, and BJ will be in Phoenix. I need some input as to how many will be here and want the weekly meeting and/or dinner for that week.
