Minutes for Meeting of 01-21-98

Whoops, I guess I screwed up on this one! Sorry about the lateness of these minutes! I just remember that I was supposed to post them.

Meeting called to order with all officers present at 5:00pm.

We have a webpage at www.biocom.arizona.edu/ramblers. Jacob is pretty good about updating the page. Check it out!

Anyone can lead a hike. We have maps and books available so you can plan your routes.

We have no dues other than sharing gas expenses & park fees while on hikes.

LAST WEEK'S HIKES:

  • Bill & Jon led a hike up Tanque Verde Ridge. They rate it a "B" for steep elevation changes. They did not quite make it to Juniper Basin, but they got about 5 miles into the trail. Seven people went up and all came back.
  • Todd, Erich, & Kurt went to Ragged Top on Sunday. Todd told us it was about a 3 mile hike, but it took all day. They was some scrambling up near the peak. They started at 1030 and returned after dark.
  • Wolfgang wen to the Tucson Mts and the Desert Museum on Sunday. He said the museum is a must see, especially for the cats and the Javalinas.
T-Shirt Designs. Loretta will hold the vote next week! If you're "holding out" on us, you can turn in your design for consideration at the meeting on Wednesday. The winning designer gets a free T-Shirt.

We got a thank you card from the family we sponsored for Thanksgiving. BJ said it's been in his room for a while.

NEXT WEEK:

  • Wolfgang (292-1744) - Rincons, starting on Douglas Springs Trail and branching out to other trails in the lower desert area. Saturday at 9:30am at PSC. Rating: B.
  • We'll have a slide show next week from various people. That should be a good show! If you have slides, you can bring them any meeting day - the club owns a projector.
In two weeks, Fran will give us a briefing on Safety on the Trail.

Last minute hiking information can be posted on the listserv, but please don't post chain letters or other inappropriate stuff. Thanks!
