Minutes for Meeting of 01-28-98
Howdy Hikers! Quite a meeting we had! For those of you who couldn't attend, we were privileged to have Wolfgang take the reins due to Loretta's illness.
For everyone receiving this from a friend, the Ramblers are a non-profit organization dedicated to hiking in the great outdoors. There are no membership dues, but we share the costs of the hikes (i.e.: gas, park entry fees, etc.). All of our hikes meet at the Park Student Center in the parking area at 5th and Park unless otherwise mentioned.
We had 7 new people join us Wednesday! Welcome Ezra, Dean, Chris, Emily, Barry, André, and Nicole! My apologies if I misspelled your name.
PAST HIKES:
-
On Sunday, Fran and a friend went to the Rattlesnake Canyon and bushwhacked for 3 miles. There was good water flow in the upper canyon and they saw mule deer.
-
On Saturday, Wolfgang led a hike of 1 into the Rincons on the Douglas Springs Trail. He made it all the way up to the Bridle Reef (?) Falls. Some water was flowing, more then a trickle but not quite a stream. Then he split off to the 3 Tank Trail. He did 7 miles of hiking total.
-
André went to Pima Canyon on Saturday. He was a little pushed for time and didn't make it all the way up, but he said there was great scenery and good water flow.
-
Ezra did some snowboarding over Christmas Break in the San Francisco Mts. He said that was a lot of fun.
-
Emily hiked to South Mountain over Break. She said it wasn't much, but there were some really neat Hyroglyphics.
UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
-
Sat 1/31 - Jon (546-1366) will lead a hike in the Rincons to Wildhorse Canyon. I believe he said that it is not on the maps. He rates this hike a B-. 9am @ PSC.
