Minutes for Meeting of 02-18-98
Howdy Hikers!
Meeting called to order at 5:05pm, all officers present.
Introductions around the room. Thanks to Mike, Cathy, Bill, Tristen, Nicole, Troy, Liz, Erich,
Todd, and Jon for being there!
LAST WEEK:
-
Wolfgang +2 - Saturday - Cerro Colorado. They had a good morning, but the temperature cooled off in the afternoon. They hiked up a very scenic side canyon to get to the top, where they found an atmospheric station with equipment. Their hike was partly on roads, but mostly bushwhacking.
-
Loretta & Josh went to the tent portion of the Gem Show on Sunday. They were disappointed because the vendors were packing up. I guess the brat in the pacific didn't agree with the tents. After being disappointed there, they went for a hike to Tanque Verde Falls. A Search & Rescue
Helicopter passed over them a few times and another hiker told them about the missing kid. They decided to leave at that point rather than stumble across the body. On the plus side though, Loretta got to talk to a cow! (She didn't translate what the cow said though!) :)
-
Liz visited the TCC portion of the Gem Show on Sunday and was impressed.
NEW BUSINESS:
-
T-Shirts: Loretta took the T-Shirt design to the Athletic designs store on 7th Street. Having the design on the front or the back will cost us $10. If we were to add the Ramblers logo on the front pocket w/the design on back it would be $11. We voted to go unaminously with the front design for $10. The lettering will be in Black and the design will be in green.
-
Phone list: The phone list was distributed today. If you want a copy, see one of the officers, we all have a few extras. Or you can email a request for one to me (Wfrobe@theriver.com) and I will email it to you. (I will scan it on my computer tonight.)
-
The Big Event. Sunday 3/8/98, 900-100. Lunch and T-Shirts for all volunteers. ASUA is looking for over 500 volunteers to restore a neighborhood near UA to say "Thank you" for putting up with college-sponsored events such as Spring Fling. Contact BJ (695-1577) if you are interested.
-
Apply for being Bear Down Camp Counselors! You can help new freshmen transfer into UA by being a counselor. Applications are available at the ASUA office (next to C.A.T.S.). Application period is from 2/17 --> 2/27. Call 621-ASUA for more info.
FUTURE ACTIVITIES:
-
Saturday - Ezra (629-0947) would like to do a hike (possibly with snowshoes!) at Mount Wrightston. The time is TBA @ PSC. Rating: A+
-
Sunday - Loretta (795-6892) will conduct a mystery day hike - low elevation/distance. Time will be 11am @ PSC. Rating: C
-
Spring Break - Todd (628-9842) wants to go do some dunes, possibly in Mohave Valley. It will be a backpacking trip.
-
Liz (623-5781) would like to hike/climb up Pacacho Peak sometime. She doesn't have any particular date in mind yet.
-
BJ (695-1577) is planning on hiking near Havasau Falls at the end of April. It will be a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday trip.
That's all for this week! Happy Trails!
Bill Frobe,
Secretary, Ramblers
