Spring Break Activities:

  • Carl (New member - welcome!) - backpacking in Utah. He said it was pretty cool. He went from Wednesday through Sunday. It was pretty cold the first day, but it warmed up after that.
  • BJ + Liz - Weaver's Needle. They did this hike as a "Long day hike." They found out where the cave was, but they couldn't get to it due to a cliff. They hiked along a primitive trail at the top of a ridge (they lost the trail a few times). Then they bushwhacked back down.
  • Outdoor Adventures New Mexico 7 day backpack. They went out near the Whitewater Creek area. For the 1st 3 days, it rained off & on. It warmed up after that. They saw some snow. They did 29 stream crossings in one day (BRrrr!). 13 people went on this trip.
  • Ross and 1 member went up to Baldy Saddle on Mt. Wrightston Sunday, 14th. They got caught in a snowstorm up there.
  • Wolfgang did a day hike up Potatoc Trail when he returned from Colorado. He went up to where he could overlook the Ventana Canyon. He said that the trail was a bit steep in places, and that at the base it was hot, but it got cooler as he went up.
  • Mike went to the Gila Wilderness with some other Ramblers (our President included). They met at the dam and hiked through the canyons, where they had some neat views. The canyons were narrow. Then they went back to the dam and hiked out into the desert, then they went back to the dam. They did some river crossings. They saw some cliffs and waterfalls. There was a lot of water. They were also chased by wild burros the whole time.
  • Two of our members (sorry I didn't catch the names) went snowshoeing in the San Francisco Mts. near Flagstaff. They were up about 11,000 - 14,000 feet.
  • Erich hiked in Venezuela. He was only at 4,700 feet.
