Minutes for Meeting of 04-08-98
Howdy Hikers!
Meeting called to order at 5:03pm with all officers, 1 advisor, and (eventually) 9 members present.
PAST EVENTS:
-
Liz & Wolfgang went to the Organ Pipe Nat'l Monument to see the Arch and Montezuma's Head. Liz gave the trip a "2 thumbs up." There were
many flowers and many different type of cacti in that area. They also saw some runes in reds and purples.
-
Carl went to Mazatzal to see the snow and the waterfalls. He said there was plenty of both in that area. There was a lot of water from snowmelt. He ended up camping in a swamp because there was so much water.
-
Erich went to Romero Canyon. He climbed up to the Wilderness of Rocks from there. He got to see a child falling into the water, but he also got wet later on. There was snow up there, but no footprints until he went through - I guess he is the bravest of the brave! He also said there were a lot of wildflowers at the trailhead area.
-
Matt went to Mt. Wrightston finally. There were few people at the peak, but there was a lot of snow! He camped at Baldy Saddle (about 1 hour from the peak). It was cold!
-
Loretta went to a wedding inside someone's house. And Bill did the Army Battalion Field Training Exercise (an actual class offered at the
university for 2 credits.)
FUNDRAISING:
Tuesday was a slow day with only 28 signatures. They were working on 18 & 19 (for Wednesday) when Bill left at 1:40. They will be extending
their stay on the mall until Monday due to not having supplies on past Monday.
NEWS:
Representative Jim Kolbe will be at UA on Tuesday, April 14 at 1:30pm in the Arizona Ballroom to speak with students. If you have issues, questions, complaints, or just want to meet him, show up to the meeting. (Maybe you can help keep tuition low ;-) ).

-

lot of snow. You must contact him if you want to go as he will assume that no one is going if no one calls him. 621-3994.
-
