Minutes for Meeting of 04-29-98

Howdy Hikers!
Meeting called to order, all officers and 12 members present.

LAST WEEKEND ACTIVITIES:
    • Karl went to the Santa Theresas for a backpacking on Saturday and Sunday. He went from "Hold Out" to "Black Rock" on some really brushy trails. It rained from 430pm Sat - 8am Sun. It was a non-stop, hard rain. But he said he had a "fabulous trip" and there was plenty of water to be seen.
    • Todd & Dave went from Cathedral Rock to Ventana Canyon. Todd said it was a long trip, 18 miles total!
    • Wolfgang had members of his family visit him this past weekend. He took them to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, on Friday, where there were plenty of wildflowers in the area, with different flowers blooming, since his last trip 2 weeks ago. There were more "fiery" colors on this trip. He also went to the Chiricahua National Monument, on Sunday, for a short 5 mile day hike. His 72-year old aunt joined him on the hike! There wasn't any snow this time, but there were lots of birds.
    • Loretta and BJ went shopping! They bought new stuff for the club: lantern, mantle for lantern, filters, tarp for under the 2-man tent, first aid kit. We now have 2 first aid kits, remember that hike leaders must carry or arrange for someone to carry a first aid kit.

NEWS:
    • Surveys for End of the Year Awards were completed at the meeting. Contact Loretta by email if you'd like to fill one out: chasel@u.arizona.edu.
    • We still have T-Shirts. $10 apiece. Get them while they're hot!
    • Loretta will try to get a room for the summer, so that we can still meet.
    • There is one last official "during the semester" meeting to go. See you next week!

FINANCIAL REPORT: BJ reports that at this moment we have $47.89 in the bank. We are due to receive from the Credit Card Company another $150 next week to bring us to $197.89.
