The Ramblers Hiking Club has weekly meetings throughout the school year, as well as during the summer sometimes! For this school year, we will be meeting at 5 p.m. in Student Union Cactus Lounge Room 283, one and a half flights of stairs above the main level, on the east end of the building.
The Club's rating system for hikes:
C = Easy hike, not too much difficult terrain or elevation change; Usually good weather, not too hot, not too long either.
B = Moderately strenuous hike, may be a little bit off trail and of longer length; moderate amount of elevation change.
A = Difficult hike; may involve some bushwacking, lots of elevation change, hot, lots of water crossings, etc. Use LOTS of caution!
The club also has maps of many places across Arizona and a few other major locations, available to borrow if you would like to plan a hike.
There is also a limited amount of equipment (backpacks, sleeping bags, pads, stoves, etc.) available for borrowing. Also, it is recommended that you take a first aid kit along on all hikes-- if needed, the club can provide one, feel free to ask any officer or post it to the listserve.
 Old business:
* Phil & Mike along with 6 others, went on the Butterfly Trail on Sunday- left at 10am, returned around 4:30. Nice weather, very relaxed hike!
* Jon, Kyle, Wolfgang- went to the Huachuca Mts. Ramsey Canyon, about 10 miles. It was a breezy, nice day, lots of wildlife, and even still some wildflowers.
* Over the past months, Erich has been hiking all over Central and Eastern Europe, and has been to places that required the hiring of a well-trained guide to get there!
 New business:
* A phone/email list was passed around. If you would like to be put on the phone/email list for this year, please send me an e-mail ASAP, or come to the next meeting--at the meeting two weeks from now, the phone list will be distributed to all members.
* A nomination sheet was passed around for this year's club officers.
Elections will be held at the next meeting, so BE THERE!!!
The following people have been nominated:
~President~ Ross Lampert; Mike Leblanc; Karl Faust;
~V.P.~ Tristin Crenshaw; Mike Leblanc; Wolfgang Golser
~Secretary~ Phil Fenberg
~Treasurer~ B.J. Cordova
If you would like to nominate someone for an officer position, feel free to email me ( bcordova@ag.arizona.edu ) anytime until the day of the election or final nominations will be taken at the meeting.
* Either at the next meeting or the one after, Matt will be having a slide show presentation.
