Minutes for Meeting of 09-16-98
Hello Ramblers,
At yesterdays meeting there were four officers and about 18 members present.
Announcements:
Mike and I went to the ASUA meeting last week and we got some stuff, like funding info and a notice that we had to resubmit the constitution. Not much else. B.J. requested some money from the university, he asked for about 200 dollars to spend on maps and stuff. We will probably receive about half that amount since though.
-Tee shirts are still available if anybody wants one. We will bring them to next weeks meeting, they are 10 dollars each, and the money goes to a good cause, of course.
Last week's activities:
-Vit led a hike to the Aspen loop on Saturday. There were 12 members present, including myself. We ate lunch at a place called lunch ledge, it had a great view of the wilderness of rocks area. Some of us went up to Marshall peak and signed a register.
-Karl led his backpack to the West Clear creek area near Flagstaff. The hardest part of the trip was the drive into the wilderness. Lots of pools and cliffs to jump off of. One pool was really deep and about 100 yards long!
-Erich and Loretta went to the Molino Basin in the Catalinas. And on Saturday he went camping with Dave in the Santa Ritas. He noticed piles of bear SH-T along way.
-Wolfgang went to the Huachuca mountains this weekend. It was about at 16 mile hike. On the way he saw 2 rattlesnakes, 7 hawks, many hummingbirds at the summit of Carr peak, a deer, and a Kuatemundi(sp?).
Upcoming hikes:
-Next saturday Ross will be leading a campfire hike to the santa Ritas on the Bogg springs-Kent springs trail. Rated a C+. Leave at 3p.m. Saturday at PSC and come back sometime on Sunday.
-Wolfgang is thinking about leading a backpack to Organ Pipe Cactus national monument. Several day hikes in the area. Rated a B.
-The Mexico trip to the Sea of Cortez was announced yesterday as well. We passed a list out and lots of people are interested in going. A tentative date for the weekend of October 2,3, and 4th was set.We may also be able to do a joint effort for those wanting to go on Wolfgangs hike to the Organ pipe national Monument, since we will be driving through it.
-Vit will be leading a hike to the Lemmon pools on Sunday at 10a.m. from PSC. Rated a B. We will be encountering some cool pools so bring your swimsuit.
Also we passed out a phonelist.
-Next week rich will be showing a slideshow of his trip to Venezuala.
Thats about all
