Minutes for Meeting of 10-14-98
Howdy hikers
Todays meeting was called with 21 members present and four officers.
Announcements:
We have $300 dollars in the ramblers account, so if you have any ideas on what we should spend it on, then bring them to the next meeting.
Last week's hikes:
-Wit led a dayhike on Sunday to the Chiricaua national monument. It was approximatley 11 miles, with lots of interesting rock formations and a great sunset. They extended their hike to sugarloaf mountain.
-Wolfgang also went to the Chiricauas this weekend. He got up into the high country of the range, and saw deer, hawks, and another coatimundi.
-Todd and Dave went to the Eagletail mountains, where they hiked around the range on saturday. They were at mostly lower elevations(1500 ft) but surprisingly they saw some water in an old well and tank. Not too hot. On Sunday they ate at the Space Age cafe!
-Hanna dayhiked to Mt. Wrightson where she saw lots of wildflowers and butterflies, and a deer.
-Rigden hiked Picacho Peak this weekend, lots of interesting geological formations. He could see the Ostrich farm from the top.
-Karl climbed Mt. Whitney in California this weekend and the highest point in Nevada. Whitney is the highest point in the lower 48 states, located in the Sierras. On the way back, they went to Vegas and won some slot machine money.

Slideshow:
Todd presented a very interesting slideshow on his trip to the sand dunes of California and Kings Canyon National Park in August. Surprisingly it rained on them in the dunes but not in the Park. Some cool shots of the dunes and the high country of the Sierras. Thanks Todd
