Minutes for Meeting of 02-17-99
Hello Ramblers,
Today's meeting was called with 14 members and 4 officers present.
Announcements :
T-shirt designs must be submitted next week if you want to contribute. We want to get the T-shirt design approved by club members at the next meeting so we can get them out as soon as possible!
We have some money (from ASUA and our own) to spend so if anyone has any good ideas, mention it at the next meeting.
Last week's Hikes :
Wolfgang did an 18 mile hike, starting in Catalina State Park, to the Samaniego Ridge. The elevation gain was about 5,000ft. Well, that's Wolfgang for ya!
Dale lead a short hike in the Tucson Mountains. Three people went on the Golden Gate Loop as well as some short wandering.
Upcoming hikes :
Dave is leading a car camp and day hike to the Santa Ritas this weekend. Leave on Friday at 6 p.m. from the Park Student Union. Camp at the trailhead and do a 16 mile hike on Saturday in Temporal Gulch and Walnut Gulch. An elevation gain of about 3000 feet. Rated A. Any questions call Dave at 881-5982.
The Saguaro National Park volunteer project is this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. Meet at the PSC at 8 a.m. on Sunday to meet the others at the trailhead at 8:30. Bring sunscreen, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Any questions call Loretta at 795-6892.
Dave may do a spring break weekend backpack thing around Sabino canyon. More info to come.
Hanna wants to do a Backpack in the Pinacate in Mexico for spring break. More info to come.
Wolfgang is planning a trip to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, in March sometime.
