Minutes for Meeting of 02-24-99
Hey everybody,
Today's meeting was held with 13 members and the four officers present.
Announcements :
The t-shirt design contest deadline has been pushed back until next week. So if you have any good designs in mind bring them next week.
Last week's activities :
-Dave led an overnight camp and 16 mile day hike in the southern Santa Ritas this weekend. There were 6 of us who completed the hike just before the sun set. Great views of the Ritas and surrounding area and into Mexico. We saw a deer and ate lunch in a great spot neat 8000 feet.
-Tristin went to Sabino Canyon this weekend. She said that it was pretty.
-On Sunday, 5 people helped out at Saguaro National Park removing fences. The place looks much better now without all the fences.
Upcoming hikes :
-Dale will be leading a hike to the Butterfly trail in the Catalinas on Saturday. Leave from the Park Student Union at 10:00 a.m. It is about 5.7 miles roundtrip, with some elevation gain. Rated C+. dap@u.arizona.edu
-Dave will lead a hike to the Mule Mountains near Bisbee on the border. 3 miles roundtrip without a trail (1500 foot elevation gain) Rated B, leave Sunday at 8 a.m. from the PSC. On the way back, he may stop at Lewis Springs on the San Pedro river, there are trails there. There is also a possibility of lunch in Tombstone! 881-5982.
-Wolfgang is considering a trip to Organ Pipe National Monument at the end of March or early April. A camp out and a day hike sort of thing. Maybe a hike in Estes canyon. Rated B. wolfgang@u.arizona.edu
-Hanna still wants to go to the Pinacates (Mexico) over Spring break. hanna@u.arizona.edu
-Dave is planning on going to Sabino Canyon for an overnight backpack and a hike. I think this is planned for next weekend, more details to come.
That's all for now,
Phil Fenberg (Secretary)
