Minutes for Meeting of 09-01-99

To all Ramblers

We had a good turnout at this week's meeting, with over 30 people present. We welcome all new members as well as returning Ramblers

Elections were held, and we now have the following people as the new representatives for the Ramblers Hiking Club:

President: Hanna Coy

Vice-President: Tristen Christopoulos

Secretary: Wolfgang Golser

Treasurer: B.J. Cordova

Past hikes:

  1. Wit's hike on the Aspen Loop Trail was a great beginner's hike. 16 people showed up on that hike, which was a very pleasant hike, being not too hot or cold.
  2. Wolfgang did a 16km (10mi) hike, starting at Mt. Lemmon and going into the Wilderness of Rocks on Sunday. Weather was really good.
  3. Wolfgang also did another Arizona-Desert Museum visit. As usual, there were more excellent presentations.

Future hikes:

  1. Hanna is planning a backpacking trip in the Gila Wilderness near Silver City, NM. It will involve stopping at hot springs and camping. Please RSVP with Hanna at: hanna@u.arizona.edu or 740-1474/791-0106. Rated A.
  2. Wit is planning a hike to Lemmon Creek, starting at Carter Canyon. Rated "C". Contact Wit: wit@ece.arizona.edu or 721-8412. Meet Sat. at 9:30AM at the Park Student Center.
  3. Wit again: Sunset from Lemmon Rock with a good view! Leave Sunday at 4:30PM at the Park Student Center. Rated C. Contact Wit, info same as above.
  4. Car shuttle for Butterfly Loop Trail being planned for next Saturday Sept. 11. Contact Wit, info same as above. Rated C+.
  5. Swim hike up Sabino Canyon, next Saturday. Contact Joe: 621-9783 or JLEISZ@AG.arizona.edu

Also, please accept our apologies, concerning the room situation. The "old" traditional Ramblers room was in the Student Union, which is now going to be demolished, and our "new" room is still in the process of being remodeled. We hope that things will all be worked out in a couple of weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding. If anyone wants to announce any other hikes for this Labor Day Weekend or any other future weekend, please do not hesitate to post on the list serve. Meanwhile, enjoy this weekend and the hikes. Keep Rambling!

Wolfgang
