Greetings Ramblers!

Announcements:

1.) Important: Unless otherwise announced, the meeting place for all hikes is behind the Park Student Center, in the parking lot.

2.) Also, future meetings for the rest of the semester, will be held in Forbes 307. Signs will be posted in case you forget!

Past Hikes:

1.) 5 people went on Liz's hike to Miller peak in the Huachuca Mountains on Sunday. They observed great scenery and a great sunset.

3.) Kyle did a bushwhack in the foothills of the Rincon Mountains by Ash Canyon and Miller Creek to search for an observation spot for the Leonid meteor shower.

4.) Jon and Hanna did a hike up Wasson Peak in the Tucson Mountains on Thursday (Veteran's Day).

Future Hikes:

1.)    Hanna is leading a hike/bushwhack to the Kofa Mountains and the Castle Dome Mountains, during Thanksgiving Weekend. Contact and RSVP with Hanna: hanna@U.ARIZONA.EDU, to make arrangements and for more information and planning.

2.)    Kyle is leading a hike/bushwhack to Table Mountain in the Santa Catalinas. Rated A. Contact Kyle: kyle@U.ARIZONA.EDU, for information. Main attraction is the scenic views toward the north.

3.)    Paul is planning to backpack to Mundo Perdido, starting on Saturday (12/18/1999) and returning on Monday (12,20,1999). He will start from Elkhorn Ranch on Saturday afternoon, spend Saturday night on a small flat place on the ridge between Sabino Canyon and Brown Canyon in the Baboquiviri Mountains. Sunday will be a bushwack, 1.5 miles to Mundo Perdido, then either hike out or spend another night on the ridge. The hike starts at elevation 3700 ft. The campsite is at 6000 ft. Mundo Perdido is around 7000 ft. There is a trail to the campsite, so hiking in the dark is no problem. It is expected; therefore, bring a flashlight. The temperature will likely be below freezing at night. Also, bring 8 quarts of H2O, since there is no water. If interested, contact Paul: 628-7091, or pns@U.ARIZONA.EDU. Definitely rated A.
