Minutes for Meeting of 11-24-99

Howdy Ramblers, 

There were 6 members and 1 officer at Wednesday's meeting. 

Announcements: 

-I guess we will be meeting in Forbes 307 from now on, that is if we can even get in the room. 

-It turns out that I have a lab on Wednesdays at 5 so I will not be able to attend the meetings this semester.So feel free to elect a new secretary. 

Past hikes: 

-Wit and Jon hiked up Miller peak in the Huachucas via Lutz canyon.They saw a few interesting mine tunnels, most notably the black bear tunnel. It was very clean and relatively intact. 

-Wolfgang was in Europe for three weeks, traveling and hiking in a few countries.He did a hike in southern Germany in the Rhineland.He also watched the total solar eclipse in Romania.And he visited Draculas castle in Transylvania. 

-Dave took part in a frog study.The objective was to find out how many frogs you actually see when traveling through their habitat.They used painted plastic frogs. 

-Ross hiked up Mt. Wheeler in New Mexico, near Taos.It is the highest peak in New Mexico.He ran into Joe at the top! 

-Erika and I did a little hike in Rockhound state park in New Mexico, near Demming.Some very interesting rock formations on the Big Florida mountains to the west.We had fun. 

Upcoming hikes: 

-Wit is planning a tentative hike on Saturday morning in the Catalinas up Beeker pt.I think that is the place, my hand writing is kind of messy. He will be leaving at 9a.m. but you must RSVP if you are interested.
