Hello Ramblers!

Announcements:
1.) Important: Unless otherwise announced, the meeting place for all hikes
    is behind the Park Student Center, in the parking lot.
2.) Also, future meetings, for the semester, will continue to be held in
    Forbes 307. Signs will be posted in case you forget!
3.) Information: Ramsey Canyon, which is in the Huachuca Mountains, south of
    Sierra Vista, AZ., has been reopened. This is a very scenic and
    interesting canyon, which is famous for its diversity of bird species
    and other wildlife.
4.) There is a web site (free) available for presenteing and providing
    topographic maps of the U.S. www.topozone.com.
5.) There is other topographic information, along with statistical
    information about routes to take, available. Contact Steve:

6.) Since there is a vacancy existing for the Vice-Presidency of the
    Ramblers Hiking Club, elections will be held next week. Nominations
    are being accepted.

Past Hikes:
1.) BJ led a hike to Wasson Peak this past Saturday. 16 people went, and
    it was a nice day and slightly overcast.
2.) Wolfgang went up Wasson Peak this past Sunday via the Sweetwater Trail.
3.) Dave led a hike up Josephine Peak in the Santa Rita Mountains, going
    up the Old Baldy and Super Trails. It turned out to be a good trail
    and route to get to the summit.
4.) Joe and 8 others had a good time, observing the total lunar eclipse,
    last Thursday, at Redington Pass.

Future Hikes:
1.) Dave Anning is leading a backpacking trip to the Maricopa Wilderness
    area, near Gila Bend for this Saturday (1/29/2000) and Sunday
    (1/30/2000). Rated "A". Important to bring lots of water. For more
    information, contact and RSVP: <pswantek@SPRYNET.COM> or 881-5982.
    The backpacking distance involved is 5 miles each day.
2.) Jon is leading a beginner's day hike into the Little Rincons on
    Sunday (1/30/2000) @ 8:30AM. to Hidden Pasture. Distance is 7 miles
    round trip and about 900ft. elevation gain. Rated "C+". Contact Jon:

3.) Joe is leading a hike up Pima Canyon on Saturday (1/29/2000) @ 8:30AM.

4.) Andy and Wolfgang are planning a trip to Aravaipa Canyon, after the
    middle of February.
5.) BJ is leading a day hike to Mt. Lemmon on Sunday (1/30/2000) @ 9:00AM.
