Minutes for Meeting of 03-15-2000
Hello Ramblers!
Ramblers meeting was held on this 15th of March (also known as "The Ides
of March") with 1 officer and 4 members. Many are away on Spring break;
however, for those who are in or close to town, hiking and other outdoor
activities still went on.
Announcement:
There is a Spring Plant Sale and Festival being held at the Boyce Thompson
Arboretum. The dates are from Friday, March 17, 2000 to Sunday, April 2,
2000 @ 8:00AM to 5:00PM. There is FREE admission with UA Cat Card for UA
faculty, staff, and students. (Otherwise it is $5.00/adult or $2.00/child
5 -12.) There is also a 10% discount on all merchandise with the Cat Card.
Also, it is an easy and scenic 2-hour drive from Tucson. For more

Past hikes:
1.) Massimo returned from Monument Valley on Tuesday, after spending 4
days on Liz's trip. (More will be mentioned at next week's meeting, when
Liz returns.)
2.) Wolfgang did a day hike in the Chiricahua National Monument on
Saturday and camped over night in the National Forest. He saw a fox, a
coatimundi, and some snow.
3.) Erich went skiing up at Mt. Lemmon, where there was still lots of
snow.
4.) Michael went up near Cathedral Rock via Esperaro Canyon on Sunday. He
also saw snow.
Future Hikes:
1.) Ryan is interested in leading a hike to "The Jug" in the Sierra Anchas

2.) There is a trip to the Mule Shoe Ranch area being planned, which will
involve some volunteer work and a hike to some hot springs. Contact Andy:

Slide Presentation:
"Bats of the Sky Islands": Ronnie Sidner (a local bat
expert) will be presenting slides at the Water Research Center, located at
350 N. Campbell Ave., on Thursday, March 16 @ 7:30PM.
