PAST HIKES:
1.) Ross and 5 other people did a day hike on the Aspen Loop Tail in the
Santa Catalinas. They saw some great views.
2.) Heather did a day hike in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, near Bishop,
California.
3.) Mary did some hikes on the Appalachian Trail in the Shenandoah National
Park, for about 3 weeks. She saw lots of bears, deer, and other wildlife.
4.) Joe Leisz and some friends did a backpacking trip in the Carson
National Forest in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in northern New Mexico,
about 2 weeks ago. They saw one deer, a couple of squirrels, a mountain
lion, and, in a nearby town, bears.
FUTURE HIKES:
1.) Joe Leisz is organizing a hike to the Lemmon Pools on Saturday
(9/1/2001). Departure is form the Park Student Center @ 7:30 AM. Bring
swimsuits, along with the usual lunch, rain gear, water, and sunscreen.
Rated "C". If interested, contact Joe [jleisz@ag.arizona.edu]. After the
hike, there will be an optional Bar-B-Q at a picnic table near the
trailhead.
2.) Torsten is leading a trip, with information as follows:
************************************************************************
I will be leading a trip for the evening of Saturday, Nov 17 to watch the
Leonids meteor shower. This year there is no moon interference like last
year. The predictions for meteor rates are quite a bit better for this
year than last year, but as always meteor predictions are not terribly
reliable. The trip will involve camping somewhere far away from city
lights. Torsten

ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING CLUB ELECTIONS:
Club elections will be held during September. The open positions are for
President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. At this present time,
nominations are being accepted. To be eligible for club office, the
requirement is that you have to be a student (graduate or undergraduate),
and one can nominate someone else or themselves. The dates of the election
are still to be determined; however, please submit nominations by
contacting the officers, since they will be some time in September.
ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING RAMBLERS T-SHIRTS
There are one large and one extra large T-shirt left. If there are more
people interested in T-shirts please e-mail me. If there is a significant
response I will submit an additional order or a new T-shirt design.
Thanks
