Minutes for Meeting of 09-05-2001

Greetings Ramblers!

There were 16 members at the last meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1) There will be an officers meeting next week, tentatively scheduled for
Monday at 10 am, in the Forbes building, either downstairs or in the regular
meeting room. We will be discussing fundraising activities, policy
implementation,
and the roles of officers for the next semester. This meeting is open to
any and all members who wish to attend, but it is by no means mandatory
(unless you're an officer). I will announce any useful outcomes of that
meeting at the next real meeting.

2) Officer nominations were held this week, and will continue at the next
meeting. The nominees are (so far):
President -- Mary Triplett
VP -- Susan Calhoun
Secretary -- Erin Erjavec and Wolfgang Golser
Treasurer -- Anne Jones and Eric Shiers

If you were nominated in your absence, and wish to turn down the nomination,
let me know.

PAST HIKES:

1) Joe and 11 others went to Lemmon Pools last Saturday. The water was
boiling hot, as usual. They had a barbeque afterward, which went well,
and then went on a wild goose chase for some pie. They practiced civil
disobedience in their quest.

2) Hanna and Richard went on an overnight hike in the Huachucas, to Miller
Peak. They saw oodles of wild raspberries, a baby rattlesnake, a skunk,
some deer, and 40+ illegal immigrants making their way through the mountains.
 It was a peaceful trip.

3) Derrin and others went to the Catalinas over Labor day weekend. They
stayed at the Presbyterian Camp near Palisades Ranger Station, and they
hiked down to Mud Springs while they were there.

FUTURE HIKES:

1) Ross is leading a hike in the Santa Ritas to No Name Mine on Saturday
(9/8/01). Leave PSU at 10 am, return around 4. This hike is rated C.
For more info, contact Ross (325-5912).

2) Robbie would like to do a sunset hike to Desert Peak in the near future.
This hike is rated C+, with some boulder hopping. If you want to go, hook
up with him and tell him what times are good for you
(robbie@email.arizona.edu).

3) Joe has 2 hikes in mind for when it gets cooler. He would like to go
to the Picacho mountains (and possibly the Peak too) around late Nov-Dec;
he would also like to do a long day hike from Mt. Lemmon out Sabino Canyon.
More info is coming at the next few meetings.

That's the news from the Ramblers, where all the women are. . .oh, forget
it.
See you soon and Happy Hiking!

Hanna filling in for Wolfgang.
