Minutes for Meeting of 10-10-2001
GENERAL INFORMATION:
-
The Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Building in
room 307.
-
All hikes, unless otherwise stated, will meet for departure in the parking
lot behind the Park Student Union. After 8pm on Friday the lot is available
all weekend for general use.
PAST HIKES:
-
Steve, last Saturday, led seven hikers up the Espererro Trail in the
Catalinas. He saw a redtail hawk while Erich pointed out the dry Bridal
Veil Falls. The conditions were quite conducive to hiking as it was cloudy
and a bit misty.
-
Susan made a solo hike on the Rymero trail this past Sunday. She hiked
about three miles in and then turned back because of a lighting sighting.
She saw a maroon millipede that moved very rhythmically.
It was quite enchanting.
FUTURE HIKES:
-
Michael will be leading a group to Mt.Graham this coming Sunday, October
14th. It will be departing from the PSU at 6:30am, as it is an approximate
three hour drive to the site of the hike. The altitude will be around 8000ft
so layering would be very appropriate. Bring the usual: food, H20, camera,
raingear. For more info contact Michael at
mdumke@as.arizona.edu.
-
Ross will be leading a hike to Seven Falls this coming Sunday, October
14th. This will be a "C" hike and it departs from PSU at 10:30am. You should
bring food, H20, sunscreen, hat, raingear and bathing suit (optional). This
hike is considered to be in a very nice area and has good views. It also
holds Steve's seal of approval as "It's fun!"
