Minutes for Meeting of 12-12-2001

• The Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Building in room 307.
• All hikes,unless otherwise stated, will meet for departure in the parking lot behind the Park Student Union. After 8pm on Friday the lot is available all weekend for general use.

• Steve hiked along the Esperero Trail this past Friday. He hiked over the saddle and noted that it was very scenic hike. On Saturday he hiked around in Sycamore Canyon. It was a nice hike although it was a bit windy and chilly.
• Massimo hiked in Saguaro East this past Sunday. He and a companion hiked along the Freight Train and Carillo Trail. It was a beautiful day and they saw a javelina, some red-tail hawks and various other unidentifiable birds.

• Susan is planning a hike along the Cochise Trail in the Dragoon Mountains. The trip will be either the 1st or 2nd Saturday in January and will leave PSU at 8am and return at 8pm. The trail is a very scenic 4.5 miles one way with minimal elevation change. Equipment would include H2O, lunch, gas money, dinner or money for dinner. Her e-mail address is scalhoun@u.arizona.edu.

• OVER THE HOLIDAY BREAK THERE WILL BE NO MEETINGS. MEETINGS WILL RESUME WED. JAN 9TH. MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO USE THE LISTSERV TO POST ANY HIKES OVER THE BREAK. HAPPY HOLIDAYDS!
• Michael is currently working on the NEW and IMPROVED Ramblers webpage. If you have pictures that you feel would be appropriate for the webpage, e-mail them to Michael. His e-mail is mdumke@as.arizona.edu.
• Hanna is planning a volunteer opportunity in which Ramblers would go to Millshoe Ranch where they are working to restore overgrazed land and refine grazing techniques. It would encompass an entire weekend of which the first day would include various odd jobs such as fence removal, painting or weed pulling. The second day would be available for hiking in the area. She is leaning more towards January 19-21st because it is a three day weekend. Contact Hanna if interested because she needs an approximate count when she calls the Ranch.
