PAST HIKES:
-
JJ and company hiked to the top of Mt. Wrightson this past Saturday.
Once at the top it was a bit dangerous as it was covered in ice.
-
Susan did some hiking along the Ventana Canyon trail and although she
didn't see any animals she heard, on several occasions, either mice or gophers.
Overall it was a "nice...really nice hike."
-
Will hiked around on the Pima canyon trail this past week and unfortunately
saw nothing out of the ordinary.
-
Robbie spent some time at the Desert Museum serving as a student translator.
He saw a multitude of animals and plants (obviously) and encountered quite
a few humans as well.
-
Joe and some friends explored an old mine in the Pontatoc Canyon area
this past Saturday. Inside the cave there were some interesting crystal
formations.
-
Ella and friends, after approaching Millard peak from the back, did
some hiking and cave exploration in the area. After accidentally losing the
trail they came upon four cave systems. There was ice and snow along with
old, scattered mining equipment.
-
Jennifer hiked to the Douglass Spring campground just to check things
out.
-
Narissa and some friends drove along Tanque Verde until it turned
to dirt and then continued following it a little ways up the mountain. They
did some hiking and exploring in the area encountering a few of the elusive
nude sunbathing Homo sapiens.
FUTURE HIKES:
-
SUSAN'S HIKE IN THE DRAGOON MOUNTAINS IS POSTPONED.
-
JJ is planning to hike Picacho Peak Saturday. He will be leaving PSU
at 9am. The hike is 5.2 miles round trip as he will be taking the Hunter
trail up and the Sunset Vista trail down. This trip requires good shoes.

This Sunday there will be a small group of people coming over to Pepper
Sauce cave for a solid waste clean up effort. Any one interested in caving
and seeing what is going on with this cave is welcome to come. Extensive
gear is not required but gloves would be highly recommended as well as may
be extra garbage bags. This is a follow up to what some of you may have seen
on the news and shall continue for a few months. An information booth will
be placed by the entrance soon.
Meeting at Campsite - "Boys camp." - around 9 a.m. If interested, needing
a ride, more info, drop me a line. This is being organized be Dave Gentzler
a fellow Grotto member from Escabrosa.
After the clean up a few people will proceed to another cave in the general
area.
