Minutes for Meeting of 02-06-2002
GENERAL INFORMATION:
-
The Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Building in
room 307.
-
All hikes, unless otherwise stated, will meet for departure in the parking
lot behind the Park Student Union. After 8pm on Friday the lot is available
all weekend for general use.
PAST HIKES:
-
Abhishek, Hanna, Rob and Andrew enjoyed a caving expedition at Peppersauce
this past weekend. Although the first few rooms of the cave had been
vandalized, the vandals had left most of the inner system unharmed. It was
quite an exciting trip as they found an alternate route back to the mouth
of the cave. Andrew also enhanced the educational aspect of the trip as he
explained the various formations within the different caverns.
-
Joe, along with a group of 14, hiked the 5-mile round trip to Bridal
Wreath Falls in the Rincons. After taking extreme caution not to be mowed
over by the Tucson Trail Runners they reached the top and hung out for a
while. There was water at the falls but only about as much as would drip
out of your sink. Before heading back down the trail they found some more
falls a little ways off and explored them.
-
Erich did some hiking on the Finger Rock Canyon Trail this past Thursday.
On the way up there was snow but by the time he returned the elusive white
stuff had been melted by the ever-present Tucson sun. He didn't make it to
the vista because another hiker informed him of the icey conditions further
up the trail.
FUTURE HIKES:
-
Ross will be leading a thrilling "mystery hike" this coming Sunday.
He will depart from PSU at 10am. This hike is rated a C/B and isn't to be
missed!
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-
April 11-14 is UofA's Spring Fling and we will be co-sponsering a basketball
game booth with the fencing club. This will be a great opportunity for our
club to raise money to buy new equipment. There will be more info about this
later.
-
This Friday at 1:00pm in room 205 there will be a PADRAC meeting at
the Swede Johnson Bldg. This meeting will include the alumni plaza
presentations concerning the Krutch Garden issue. If you would like to go
and show your support of the Krutch Gardens then please go. If you would
like to carry signs contact Joe at
jleisz@ag.arizona.edu.
-
Joe is having a MARDIS GRAS party this Saturday night. It will begin
at 9pm and wrap up around 1am. All are welcome! His address is 3407 E. Linden,
