Minutes for Meeting of 07-31-2002

Howdy Ramblers,

• The Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5 PM in the Forbes Building in room 307. All hikes, unless otherwise stated, will meet for departure in the parking lot behind the Park Student Union. After 8 PM on Friday the lot is available all weekend for general use. PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PARK STUDENT UNION NEAR THE TYNDALL GARAGE AND THE NEW UNION WHICH THEY JUST BUILT. SOME NEW RAMBLERS WERE CONFUSED AS TO THE CORRECT LOCATIONS!
• Ross had to give up his duties as the Gear Warden for the time being. If anyone has a storage shed or room in their garage for a few packs and sleeping bags, et cetera, please let me know ASAP. It is preferable if you have a residence closer to campus.
  We will need to find a new person to take over the position of webmaster. If you are good with computers and have the time, please contact Dan Carroll: [dcarroll@u.arizona.edu].

• Will and Dan went on a hike Saturday to "Seven leaking cracks in the rock" also known as Seven Falls. They saw lots of lizards, ocotillo with lots of leaves on them, stagnant pools, fish, and tadpoles.
• Andrew hiked on the Butterfly Trail the day prior to the start of the Bullock Fire. He has since been working at the boy scout camp near Kinney and Ajo south of Old Tucson studios. It was very hot there!
• Shannon went fishing on Monday at Agua Caliente and brought Dan along to do all the hard labor. They caught lots of big fish to experiment on. They saw and heard raccoons, barn owls, bullfrogs, ducks, but, sadly, no snakes.
• Georgio hiked for a month and a half in North-Central Italy. It is unclear whether these were serious hikes or just hikes to and from local bars and pizza parlors. Welcome back Georgio!
• Last week Hanna, Katie, Pete, and of course Ross went to see the movie "The Odd Couple" and had a nice time.

• This Thursday's movie is "A Shot in the Dark" and will play at the usual place and time, La Placita Village at dusk. Meet at Ross' at 5PM if you can.

• Will is going to see desert tortoises at 6 AM on Saturday. He sent the information to the listserv.
• Andrew will lead a hike near the Marshall Gulch-Summerhaven area this Saturday. Meet behind the Park Student Union at 8 AM. They plan to be back on campus at approximately 5 PM. You can reach Andrew at 749-4757. They may stop for a pie or possibly for dinner at either the coffee shop or pie place.
• Katie is leading a similar hike on Sunday hiking the Aspen Trail.
