Minutes for Meeting of 10-02-2002
HOWDY RAMBLERS-
-
Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Bldg. in room 307.
-
Hikes meet in the parking lot behind Park Student Union (PSU) unless
otherwise stated. During the weekend these spaces are available for public
use.
Don't worry if you don't have a car. We carpool from PSU.
PAST HIKES:
-
Sarah and Erin accompanied Joe and three others on a hike to Reddington
Pass last weekend. It was an interesting hike as they happened to come upon
a group of nude, sunbathing, older men.
-
Brad and James departed for Mt. Wrightson this past Sunday at 4:30am.
They arrived around six and they hiked to the summit in about two hours and
fifteen minutes. It was very nice because they were the first ones to the
top so they had it all to themselves. On the hike down they passed members
of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club making their ascent.
-
Kippy led a group to Reddington Pass this past weekend as well. They
avoided the nude area and took a different part of the trail that led to
a cliff from which you could jump into the water. The area was quite littered
and some Ramblers are planning to go back and clean up the area.
-
Will and five others climbed Mt. Wrightson last Saturday. They left
Tucson at nine and returned around six. They hung out for a while at the
summit as it was a gorgeous day for hiking.
-
Ross, and some others, hiked along the Green Mountain Trail on Mt. Lemmon
a few weeks ago. It was a leisurely hike that took them through some of the
burned area.
-
Mike, last week, hiked to Seven Falls. The water in the river was considerably
lower than two weeks ago. There was still plenty of water in the pools and
falls.
-
Will, hiked in Sabino Canyon two nights ago. He saw a skunk and a tarantula.
FUTURE HIKES:
-
Mike is leading a hike to Reddington Pass on Saturday. He will meet
at 6 or 7am at PSU. You must email or call him if you are planning to go.
His contact info is

-

at PSU at 10am. Bring H20, lunch, sunscreen and swimwear.
