Minutes for Meeting of 10-09-2002

HOWDY RAMBLERS-
  • Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Bldg. in room 307.
  • Hikes meet in the parking lot behind Park Student Union (PSU) unless otherwise stated. During the weekend these spaces are available for public use.
Don't worry if you don't have a car. We carpool from PSU.
PAST HIKES:
  • Brad and a few others, hiked down the Prison Camp Trail. They continued along the Bear Canyon Trail #29 until they were above Seven Falls. They hung out for a while and decided to head back because of their low water supply. It was about an 11-12 mile hike, and quite warm.
  • Mike and some others, hiked up Reddington Pass to the cliff "that you'd have to be crazy to jump off of." On the return trip, the only interesting wildlife they saw was one naked man.
  • Josh, while in Mesa, hiked with his parents up to the Sunflower Mine. It is an old Mercury mine with many of its equipment still intact. While there, they startled some fawns and one ran into a fence while trying to escape.
  • Ross and company, braved the cool, fall night last Thursday and saw "Rebel Without a Cause". Before the movie, he made his delectable homemade pizza.
FUTURE HIKES:
  • Ross is leading a hike on Sunday up the Florida Canyon Trail. He will meet fellow hikers at 9am at PSU. The length of the hike will be determined by the hikers that show up. This weekend is supposed to be a bit chilly so you might want to wear layers for the higher elevations. Bring plenty of H20 and lunch.
On a later message to the listserv, Ross added:
It looks like I forgot about a previous engagement on Sunday. I will have to either change the date of the hike to Saturday or ask another person to lead it. If you are interested in leading the hike, please post that to the listserv or call me at 241-2022 asap. Sorry about that.
    Ross

    and Brad answered:
    Ross you suck,
I still want to hike on sunday, i will either lead a hike to the flordia saddle if everyone is pressed on that, or i will come up with a new hike if Ross is intending to do that hike on saturday.
I was thinking that the butterfly trail on mt. lemmon might be a nice one to check out.
Lemme know what you think kids, 9:00am sunday. Gimme input.
    peace,
    -brad 791-7952
