Minutes for Meeting of 10-16-2002
HOWDY RAMBLERS-
-Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Bldg. in room 307.
-Hikes meet in the parking lot behind Park Student Union (PSU) unless
otherwise stated. During the weekend these spaces are available for public
use.
-Don't worry if you don't have a car. We carpool from PSU.
PAST HIKES:
-Erin, Brad, Ethan and a few others hiked Florida Saddle Trail in the
Santa Ritas last Sunday. They only saw four other hikers the entire day and
one javelina. The weather was perfect for hiking and the trip was enjoyed
by all.
-Hanna, a couple of weeks ago, while looking for some research sites,
took a quick hike along the Geology Vista Trail on Mt. Lemmon. The trail,
although short at half a mile, had a few interesting views.
-Mary, having overslept the Florida Saddle hike, took a leisurely hike
from Sabino Canyon to Seven Falls this past Sunday. It was a little warm
but the wind kept some of the heat at bay. The hike was nice and relaxing,
perfect for breaking in a new pair of boots.
-Dan went camping in Spencer canyon last weekend. He hiked around the
campsite but nothing too extensive. There is a possibility that he heard
a raccoon around five in the morning but who really cares enough about raccoons
at five in the morning to go check. (My apologies if you do)
FUTURE HIKES:
-Hanna has a conference in the Chiricuauas this Saturday. If anyone is
interested in camping there Friday and Saturday night and doing some day
hikes Saturday and Sunday then please contact her ASAP. She can be reached
at haacoy@yahoo.com (I think). Hanna if this email is wrong I apologize,
please send out the correct one.
-Joe and his roommate are going to do a long day hike on Saturday. They
will be doing a loop in the Catalinas, beginning on the Bear Canyon trail
to Seven Falls and then onto the Esperanza Trail back to Sabino Canyon. This
hike will be 15 miles long and is considered an "A" hike. Since they will
be leaving early, in order to complete the hike before dark, it is pertinent
that you contact Joe to determine the meeting time. He can be reached at
jleisz@ag.arizona.edu. (I know this email address is right)
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-Movie Night: Meet at Ross's Thursday night between 5 and 7pm for mystery
food. The feature film this week is "What Happened to Baby Jane" starring

Thursday, October 24th. It will be in the grand ballroom from 6:30-8:30.
