Minutes for Meeting of 05-14-2003
HOWDY RAMBLERS-
-Ramblers meet every Wednesday at 5pm in the Forbes Bldg. in room 307.
-Our new meeting place is the rock wall across the street from the east
side of Tyndall Parking Garage. Here is a map of the location
http://clubs.arizona.edu/~ramblers/wall.html
-Don't worry if you don't have a car. We carpool from our meeting place.
PAST HIKES:
-Erich hiked and camped in the Happy Valley area near the Rincons recently.
He hiked in the Little Rincons where the creek was still flowing. There were
not many people out there, so the trip was quite nice.
-Chad and Mary did a short hike along the Ventana Canyon Trail for a
while, last Sunday. The weather was nice and they saw lots of butterflies,
but not much else except people.
-Danny hiked along the Douglass Spring trail two weekends ago and saw
two snakes, including a possible rattlesnake. The little amount of water
was a little disappointing but overall the hike was nice.
FUTURE HIKES:
-Loretta's Backpack:
I have decided that I plan to backpack the West Fork
of Oak Creek over Memorial Day Weekend. I need to
know who is interested, what days you are available
and if you can drive. The hike could be 3 days doing
a car shuttle or 4 days going up the canyon and coming
back. This all depends on YOUR time available, since
I am flexible. We could hike Sat 5/24, Sun 5/25, Mon
5/26, or Fri 5/23, Sat 5/24, Sun 5/25, or Fri, Sat,
Sun, and Mon.
We would be hiking 14 miles of a gorgeous canyon.
This will be a relaxing-enjoying the scenery type of
trip. More details available at the following links,
