Minutes for Meeting of 11-12-2003

Hello fellow ramblers, here are this week's minutes...

PAST HIKES:

***Thanks to Steve's organization on Friday nine of us went on a
moonlight hike up Blacket's Ridge and made it all the way to the top. It was great,
not too cold, but definitely a 6 hour excursion in total.

***Wolfgang also updated us on a few of his past hikes...A few weeks
ago he went up the Butterfly Trail with a friend visiting from Tahoe. Last weekend
he visited the Western section of the Saharo National Park. And then just
recently spent a day in the Southern Santa Catalina Mountains on the Arizona
Trail where he caught sight of the lunar eclipse that happened on Saturday.

***Steve went up to Safford on Saturday and spent some time on Watson's
Hotwell. He also tested out his new car for offroading capability. Plus, he
visited Mount Gram and Rigg's Lake looking for places to come back to.

***Bill Birky finally went up Picacho Peak with his wife after several
years of living in Tucson. Congrats. I really want to make that trip soon.

FUTURE HIKES:

***In early January, before school starts up again, Hanna wants to make
a backpacking trip up the Superstitions. This would be a 3 day trip
probably starting around the 12th.

***Tomorrow (Saturday) Steve is planning on going to Ramsey Canyon. The
trees are looking good, very Fallish so its time to go. Remember to RSVP and
bring $5 for every person.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

**Bill's recently went to a meeting at the Saharo National Park for
Hiking and Trailriding Clubs in Tucson. There were several groups represented at
the meeting and they all agreed that the Park has a very convenient
location and a very good trail system. However, some of the suggested improvements
involved, 24 hour access to the area, access to South and Southwest Rincon Mtns,
and the placement of toilet near the trailhead.

**The T-shirt contest has moved online.
