Nov. 23 2005

There were 3 people in attendance - no new ones, just really old
members.

PAST HIKES

1. Steve decided to catch some of the Leonid meteor shower and headed
to Redington Pass for a campout last Friday. Just after the 10 mile
marker there is a ATV staging area on the left hand side. He drove a
ways along the dirt road to a large circular area which had open views
and dark skies to the east. After eating dinner and setting up his camp
chair, getting comfortable in his sleeping bag he proceeding to waste 2
hours of his life. Despite reports of 5-10 meteors per hour he saw
none, nada, zilch, nein, el zero! Worse than a random night. Well,
these things are hard to predict and it was a nice peaceful night under
the stars.

2. Will had a successful potluck get together at his place last
Saturday. 15-20 people showed up and there was a really complicated
card game played. Plenty of wine and debauchery (actually, no
debauchery took place as there weren't the minimum number of Russians,
2, for this according to Lenny). Still, fun was had by all.

FUTURE HIKES

1. Steve was planning on a trip to the Joshua Tree National Park and
Deep Creek Hot Springs over the turkey break, a joint effort with the
NAU hiking club. Different plans came about so this trip is being
rescheduled for December, probably just after finals.
