The Physics, Astronomy and Science Club book club is aimed at providing a fun out-of-class learning experience while also fostering a strong relationship between physics faculty and students. The general plan requires that interested faculty first submit a book recommendation. It can be any subject and any style, and it should be a book that made a substantial personal impact. Students will choose recommended books to read and when finished discuss them with the relevant faculty member over lunch (the student's treat). At the end of the academic year the student with the most completed books (at least 5) will win a $250 scholarship from the Physics, Astronomy and Science Club. During lunch the discussion should help verify whether or not the student actually read the recommended text.
