History 2001/2002

Congratulations to the newly elected cabinet for 2002-2003. The new officers will be:

  • President - Amanda Willis

Congratulations to all who attended Young's Regional Tournament in Phoenix on the 20th of April. The club had a great showing with 6 people attending, and bringing back 9 trophies!

  • Ms. Perry placed 3rd in forms and 2nd in weapons with the double bahng-mahng-ee
  • Ms. Adriano placed 1st in forms and 3rd in sparring
  • Ms. Dixon placed 2nd in weapons with the single ssahng-joel-bong
  • Amanda Willis placed 3rd in sparring
  • Kristen Devoucoux placed 1st in forms, 1st in sparring, and 1st in weapons with her jahng-bong

Thanks to all who attended the Spring National Tournament in Las Vegas. The club had a tremendous showing with 9 people attending, and bringing back 10 trophies!!!

  • Juan Colima placed 1st in weapons with his double bahng-mahng-ee
  • Kristen Devoucoux placed 2rd in forms, 2nd in sparring, and 2nd in weapons with her jahng-bong
  • Chris Wie placed 3rd in sparring
  • Amanda Willis placed 1st in weapons with her double bahng-mahng-ee
  • Ms. Adriano placed 1st in forms after a tie breaker with Ms. Perry and 3rd in sparring after again competing against Ms. Perry
  • Ms. Perry placed 2nd in forms and 2nd in sparring
  • Mr. Stuart Cunningham (2nd degree black belt, certified instructor) who used to be a member of the U of A club placed 3rd in forms

Warming up for Nationals, a crew of six U of A students participated in the Lee's Regional Tournament in Phoenix on Feb 15-16 and brought back an incredible 13 trophies!!! Congratulations to all, it was a VERY impressive showing!

  • Juan Colima placed 1st in forms, 2nd in one-steps, and 1st place in weapons
  • Kristen Devoucoux placed 3rd in forms and 1st in one-steps
  • Ms. Dixon placed 2nd in single ssahng-joel-bong
  • Ms. Adriano placed 1st in forms and 2nd in single bahng-mahng-ee
  • Ms. Perry placed 3rd in forms, 1st in sparring, and 2nd in double bahng-mahng-ee
  • Mr. Feiles placed 3rd in forms and 3rd in sparring

Congratulations to Mr. Feiles on his 5th Degree, and his beautiful picture in the latest "The Way of Taekwondo"

Thanks to everyone in the club, this year has been the most successful one ever for the U of A club. We've already started off the year with some superb fundraising, and everyone has been performing fantastically both in class and at the local tournaments. Here are the results from the Black Belt Tournament on Nov 10:

  • Mr. Kim took 1st in forms, 2nd in weapons (SBME), and 3rd in sparring.Ms. Adriano took 1st in forms (with a perfect score) and 1st in weapons (SBME).Ms. Dixon took 1st in weapons (SSJB).Ms. Perry took 3rd in sparring and 3rd in weapons (DBME).
  • Mr. Feiles took 2nd in forms and 2nd in sparring.
