About Us

The Begining

The Flying Club was formed as a result of the love of aviation and flying. Our mission is to help students who are interested in flying, for fun or as a career, as well as students interested in aviation, to discover and experience the joy of flying. The club is a great place for students to talk with other aviation enthusiasts, meet pilots in the area and talk to guest speakers from various fields in the aviation industry. The club is open to and welcomes all students. And the best part is you don’t have to know anything about flying!

What does it cost?

The club dues are $20 per semester which will allow you to participate in all activites the club takes part in. Dues are paid at the beginning of the semester and are required before partaking in any flyout.

  • Discussing plans for future events such as flyouts and guest speakers
  • A club activity which may be a guest speaker or other aviation related item
  • And a plenty of time to talk to others about anything you want

Whats a Flyout?

A typical flyout consists of a few of the club pilots getting their planes together on a weekend and flying out to a destination with other club members. We all drive down to the local airport such as Tucson International Airport or Ryan Field and fly to our final destination such as Chandler or Bisbee. As a front seat passenger, you might even get some hands on flying! We have flown to many destinations across Arizona in planes such as Cessna 172, Cessna 185, Cessna 182, Cessna 170 and Cessna 310 (twin Engine). If you are a pilot, this is also a great way to gain experience at a lower than normal cost. As a club pilot, if you take club members on a club sponcered flyout, you will be paid the appropriate pro rata share of your passengers. As a passenger, you will not have to pay any additional fees to attend flyouts, all you have to do is pay the club dues.
