Retreats & Trips

Mexico Border Immersion Trip - (September 28-30)

Every fall a handful of LCM students travel down to Agua Prieta, Mexico.  Agua Prieta is a border town directly across from Douglas, AZ.  We go down there to try and understand the migrant experience.  We work with organizations for the migrants as well as talk with the people of Mexico who continuously struggle with border issues.  We talk to them about their family, their faith, as well as the journey they are enduring.  We listen to them as they tell us what drove them to leave their home and embark such a dangerous ordeal.  It is an amazing experience that will open the eyes of anyone who goes on this trip.

Other Trips Coming Up This Fall

Regionals - (October 12-14)

Regionals is an awesome time to come together with other students from Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and sometimes Utah and Wyoming. This is a time not only to get to know one another but to play games, do service projects, and worship together.  At Regionals we also elect next year’s regional Lutheran Student Movement officers.  This year’s trip will be to Durango, Colorado.  While Regionals may involve a long drive and it can seem like a turn around trip, the bonding experiences of getting to places at 2am do not only happen at La Jolla.

Nationals - (Winter Break)

Nationals (happening over the New Years holiday) is a great time to get to know Lutheran students from all over the country and often the world. This is a 4 day event in which we not only worship with hundreds of college students, but also do service projects and small groups to really get to know each other. This is not as intimate a setting as the Regional Retreat, but it is still an awesome time. Previous places that it has been held are New Orleans, Washington DC, Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix, Albuquerque and San Diego just to name a few.  This year’s Nationals will be held in Denver, Colorado.  Those interested are welcome to stay late after the trip for skiing and snowboarding.

Our Spring Trips Are...

Ski Retreat - (January)

Spring Overnighter - (April)

Holden Village Trip - (May)

More information about these will be coming soon!
